Principles Above Politics

We cannot solve problems with the same mentality that created them. The elitists measure success by growth. Growth in budgets, growth in the size of government. That growth is paid for by us, but it rarely benefits us.

It’s time for a fresh perspective to the problems facing Idaho. I believe there are timeless principles that produce natural consequences. It’s time to put principles above politics. I will have one standard to measure success; promises kept.

Abolish Idaho Income Tax

Taxpayers may be surprised to learn that for the average Idahoan earning $50,000 a year, Idaho’s state income tax is higher than 39 other states. Ed has a plan to abolish the state income tax without disruption to essential services.

Government For The People

Socialist policies like “wealth redistribution” and “central planning” have gained a solid foothold in Idaho. Idahoans need a governor that will stand firm in the face of federal tyranny and uphold the values that made America great.

School Choice For Families

Problems in education will be solved by returning power to families and teachers through school choice. Nothing will have a more positive impact on wage growth for teachers and protect the free exchange of ideas in public education than school choice.

Here is the core principle which serves as a foundation for my entire platform; empowering individuals benefits society over the long-term. When you are empowered to reach for the very heights of your personal potential then your improving circumstances will be a benefit to your community. “A rising tide lifts all ships.”

This foundational principle is the ‘secret sauce’ that our Founding Fathers understood. It was a revolutionary idea in 1776 and it’s, sadly, revolutionary again today.

My sole aim is to secure the American Dream in Idaho and allow our state to rise to its noble position as a land that celebrates freedom and rewards hard work.

Ed On The Issues

Pro-life:

Human life has inherent purpose and value. What have we missed in the arts, in science, in our culture, because we cut short 60 million lives? Ed’s pro-life stance honors families and the values that build strong communities.

Idaho First-Chinese Communist Party Policy:

Idaho must WAKE UP to the true intentions of the CCP which monitors and corrupts Chinese companies and individuals to be surrogates of its criminal regime. Strong steps must be taken to protect our state from the nefarious influence of our foreign adversaries.

Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights:

A Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights forces the government to put every proposed state tax increase to the voters for their approval. Ed believes a Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights will reign in the growing size and cost of government and put more power back into the hands of the people by reducing the number of elections in a year and eliminating the tax increases passed in sneaky low voter-turnout elections.

Critical Race Theory:

CRT and its socialist tenacles have infiltrated every institution of our society. Ironically, CRT is being funded by you, as you pay your taxes, support non-profit organizations, and do business with “woke” companies. Ed has a plan to win the fight for the soul of America.

Refugee Resettlement:

Idaho is the third-highest state in per capita refugee resettlement. We accept more refugees than eight other states combined.  Unfortunately, like so many well-intentioned programs, our compassion is betrayed as our tax dollars are funneled to politicized non-profit groups and government entities that promote open borders, critical race theory, and socialist welfare entitlements. The next governor must craft a refugee resettlement policy that does not harm Idaho.

Election Integrity:

Since the wee hours of the morning on November 4, 2020, Ed has taken action, and will continue to take action, to preserve the integrity of our elections in Idaho.

2nd Amendment Freedoms:

Ed Humphrey’s solemn promise to the citizens of Idaho is that he will not allow ANY infringement upon our Second Amendment rights. Ed will not allow federal overreach to tread upon the rights guaranteed under the Idaho State Constitution.

Jobs:

Boosting private sector, good-paying jobs is a by-product of common-sense policies in areas like education, state land management, and tax policy. Nothing will boost the economy and create better-paying jobs more than eliminating the income tax.

State Lands:

Federal land mismanagement costs the State of Idaho significantly. Make no mistake, the outcome of federal policies that stifle the use of our public lands means less jobs and more people who are on the dole of a socialist government.

Idaho National Labs:

Nuclear energy provides 55 percent of the nation’s clean energy. Even in its “throttled back status,” it contributes about $2 billion to the Idaho economy. Ed will champion nuclear energy in the face of political operatives and lobbyists who spread misinformation to advance foreign and corporate interests.

Housing Price Crisis:

Current prices make it difficult for lower-and middle-income people to afford housing. Government intervention, like rent control, shifts costs around but doesn’t offer a long-term solution. Ed offers solid, long-term solutions to ease Idaho’s housing price crisis by addressing the key inputs: labor and materials.

Medical Freedom:

Too many in Idaho leadership celebrate mass conformity and scorn questions from regular folks as ignorant. But conformity and conscience don’t go hand in hand. Forcing others to undergo medical treatments for the “collective good” is wrong, plain, and simple. The danger of government bureaucrats and corporations making medical decisions for the rest of us cannot be understated.
